Used Equipment at Shep’s Ex

What a great way to re-home that spinning wheel (admit it, you have six other spinning wheels at home, they’ll never notice) to someone who is just getting started? Bring your (slightly) tired, your scuffed, your dusty treasures that are yearning to get back to work!

Shearing Day!

We can’t wait to see your gorgeous fleeces this year. You can bring in up to 10 fleeces for judging, and up to 10 fleeces to go directly for sale.

Locker Hooking 101 Workshop, Sunday April 13, 10 AM to 1 PM

Instructor: Heather Kibbey
Locker hooking is back, and anyone can do it! This technique uses rug canvas and a special crochet hook with an eye to build a thick fabric which can be double or single sided. You can use fabric strips, yarn, roving or raw fleece to create your fabric, making it a great technique for using up scraps and leftovers. Finished items can be laundered, making it a great technique for rugs, pillows, mug rugs, etc. We will be completing a mug rug using yarn in the class so you can learn this fun craft! Bring a pair of scissors, I’ll provide everything else. Maximum 10 students. Class Fee $30. Materials fee $10.

Heather has been a spinner for over 50 years and loves to try all kinds of fiber techniques. She travels all summer demonstrating old-timey skills as a Hudson’s Bay fur trade reenactor. Her current obsession is antique sock knitting machines, which she will be demonstrating at the Shepherd’s Extravaganza.
